Rajasthan’s capital city, Jaipur, experienced a magnitude 4.4 earthquake on the Richter scale, according to the National Center for Seismology.

At 4:09 am on July 21, 2023, an earthquake measuring magnitude 4.4 on the Richter scale struck approximately 9 kilometres away from Jaipur, Rajasthan, at a depth of 10 kilometres, as reported by the National Center for Seismology.

NCS reported that at 4:22 am, an aftershock measuring magnitude 3.1 followed the initial earthquake

In the early hours of Friday, three earthquakes were felt in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported that these three tremors occurred within a span of 30 minutes.

At around 4:25 am, the last earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 struck at a depth of 10 kilometers. The NCS tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.4, Occurred on 21-07-2023, 04:09:38 IST, Lat: 26.88 & Long: 75.70, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.”

In a tweet, Murari Lal Meena, Rajasthan’s Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, expressed, “Earthquake in Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!”

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, responded to the tremors with a tweet, stating, “Earthquake tremors have been felt in other places in the state, including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!”

Rameshwar Singh uploaded a video from a CCTV camera capturing the Jaipur earthquake. He noted, “See dogs on the street in deep sleep suddenly waking up.

Jahnvi Sharma, another citizen, shared a video of the earthquake, expressing, “What a scary day to witness such a high magnitude earthquake in Jaipur.

Meanwhile, a Twitter user jestingly remarked, “Jaipur celebrating the success of Oppenheimer in India too soon.”
